How do I know what version of pcAgent I have installed?
  The easiest way to check which version of pcAgent you currently have is to look in the About Box of the Client or SlideShow:

Hint: To open the About box, click on the 'Help' menu item, then select 'About'.

The 'Build version' field will report the version number you are looking for.
How do I back up my/our database?
  In order to create a backup of your pcAgent database, you need to follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the machine where you have the pcAgent server installed
  2. Click on the Windows Start button, select 'All programs' then 'pcAgent' then 'Server' then 'Backup or Restore'
  3. The backup/Restore utility Wizard will run
  4. Ensure that 'Backup a database' is selected, then click the 'Next' button
  5. If you have not already selected a root path in a previous backup, please click the '..' button next to 'Backup Root path', then select a directory where you would like to place this backup and all future backups. Ideally, this folder should be on another hard drive or external device, if possible.
  6. Once you have selected a 'Backup Root Path', click the 'Next' button again. The backup process will now start. Please wait for it to complete. Once it is complete, make sure the message reads: 'Backup Completed with 0 errors' - Do NOT continue with any upgrade if the backup completed with errors. If you experience backup errors, please stop and contact us on support@pcagent.co.za.
  7. Close the Backup and Restore Wizard by clicking the 'Finished' button.
How do I restore my/our database?
  In order to restore your database from a previous backup, you need to follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the machine where you have the pcAgent server installed
  2. Click on the Windows Start button, then select 'All programs' then 'pcAgent' then 'Server' then 'Backup or Restore'
  3. The backup/Restore utility Wizard will run
  4. Ensure that 'Restore a database from a previous backup' is selected, then click the 'Next' button
  5. On the 'Restore from' screen, click the '...' button next to the 'Restore From' field
  6. Now, select the folder that you performed a backup to (folders are labelled with date and time for ease of use).
  7. Click Next. The restore process will complete.
How to import a report or template
  Reports and Templates have a .age file extension. If you have received a file in an email, then save it to your hard drive first before following these instructions:
  1. Within pcAgent client, click on the 'File' menu, then click the 'Import' menu item, then select 'Template or Report' from the sub-menu.
  2. A File Browser dialog will open.
  3. Locate the .age file on your hard drive and then click the 'open' button.
  4. The import should then display a message indicating whether the operation was succesful.
  5. Click 'OK' on the message dialog.
